Meet Danielle
A dedicated educator, counselor, and advocate with more than 18 years of experience supporting children, families, and communities, Danielle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in School Counseling, and a Master’s degree in School Psychometry.
Danielle spent 12 years in the classroom as a teacher before transitioning into her current role as a school counselor, where she is now in her sixth year of service. She is certified in English as a Second Language and received her Reading Recovery Certification from Texas Woman’s University.
Her commitment to professional growth and leadership is further reflected in her involvement with MATF (Member Advisory Task Force for Oklahoma Healthcare Authority), her service as a Family LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities) Mentor, and her role as a board member for OFN (Oklahoma Family Network). Her dedication to advocacy has been recognized through numerous honors, including her family being named the Oklahoma State Special Olympics Family of the Year and receiving the Judy Pluess Excellence in Autism Award.
Danielle also shares her expertise as a keynote speaker, most notably for the 2022 Oklahoma Statewide Autism Conference. With a passion for education, advocacy, inclusion, and family support, Danielle continues to champion opportunities for growth, understanding, and empowerment for individuals with special needs and their families.
My Why
Working as an Assistant Director for the OATECA Transition Center is deeply personal, driven by my own journey raising 24-year-old triplets on the autism spectrum. Having navigated the complex realities of adulthood, independence, and the cliff-edge of transitional services within my own family, I know firsthand the profound mix of vulnerability and hope that families experience. This role is my opportunity to bridge the gaps in support for adults with disabilities and their families by walking alongside them in their journey.
As someone who believes in genuine human impact, I am dedicated to building a community where stability and meaningful growth are tangible, sustainable realities for the individuals and families we serve, not just abstract goals. I am truly honored to be a part of the OATECA family.
